Commons Park HArbor Point
Of course, it’s going to be first! Commons Park, right on Commons Park S, is a communal space in the middle of Harbor Point, and luckily for us, right outside our front door!
This lush green space is our little getaway amidst the surrounding urban atmosphere. This dog-friendly park features biking and walking paths, a playground, and a fountain. Various events include Sunset Movies in the Park, farmers markets, free yoga and Zumba classes, and much more!
Boccuzzi Park
We know you’ve got a park for a front yard, but if you ever want to try somewhere new, try Boccuzzi Park! Located in the Waterside neighborhood of Stamford, at 200 Southfield Ave, Boccuzzi Park is a 12-acre coastal park that includes a playground, softball field, basketball court, two tennis courts, a beach, and a marina. In 2011, Southfield Park was renamed after John Boccuzzi, a longtime Waterside resident and member of the Board of Representatives for more than 40 years.
With brilliant views, gorgeous sunsets, acres of green, and an accessible dock with boats floating by… we think it’s definitely worth a visit!
Cummings Park & Beach and West Beach
Beach day? Cummings Park and Beach is a beautiful, 79-acre park on Long Island Sound, located on Shippan Ave. Visitors can enjoy the beach, pavilions, snack bar, boardwalk, and fishing pier.
While there is a small neighborhood between them, Cummings Park and West Beach are connected by Cummings Marina. Together, the two parks include two beaches, a pond, six ball fields, two side-by-side soccer fields, six tennis courts, a basketball court, beach volleyball courts, food trucks, and open lawn space!
Cove Island Park
Next up is Cove Island Park, 1125 Cove Road, an 83-acre park, beach, and recreation area in the Cove section of Stamford, Connecticut, located on Long Island Sound. The park is home to diverse wildlife, including over 50 species of butterflies and 309 species of birds, making it the perfect nature lover’s destination.
Scalzi Park
As the largest recreational area in the city of Stamford, Scalzi Park, 97 Bridge Street, is a must-see. With running and hiking trails, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and bocce ball courts, as well as a playground, there’s fun for the whole family! It also houses Cubeta Stadium, which is home to the Stamford American Legions and Babe Ruth baseball teams.
Columbus Park
It might be a small urban park, but as home to the Alive@Five Summer Concert Series, Columbus Park, located on Main Street, sees world-class performers and massive crowds from across the tri-state area.
Mill River PArk
Mill River Park, at 1010 Washington Blvd, is a beautiful green space with a volunteer-built playground, an enchanting carousel, and a skating center that gets transferred into a 9,000-square-foot display fountain for the spring and summer. The park is dedicated to conservation and regularly hosts events.
Kosciuszko Park
Kosciuszko Park, at 200 Elmcroft Rd, is an 18-acre waterfront peninsula that attracts dog walkers and joggers. Installed in 2010, there’s a gorgeous 5-acre native, coastal meadow used as a stopover for migrating birds. During the green months, it is filled with insects, birds, and native wildlife.
Veteran Memorial Park
Honoring Stamford’s veterans, Veterans Memorial Park at 130 Atlantic Ave, features granite monoliths and other monuments. With spaces for quiet reflections and an amphitheater built into the hillside for public events, Veterans Memorial Park offers a meaningful visitor experience.
